Greenmeadow Community Farm, Cwmbran

An exciting day out for all the family.Traditional farm animals and rare Welsh breeds, some of which you can hand feed and touch.See the newborn lambs and watch a cow being milked. a huge range of activities, attractions and demonstrations.

Big Pit, Blaenavon

A real colliery which closed as recently as 1980.Take a free guided tour underground led by an ex-miner - not a simulation.On the surface explore the colliery buildings and exhibition as well as the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway. This is all part of the World Heritage Site

Techniquest, Cardiff Bay

A science discovery centre featuring hands-on exhibits and live demonstrations. Have fun firing a rocket, forecasting the weather and launching a hot air balloon amongst many other experiences.

Roman Museum and Amphitheatre, Caerleon

A 50 acre fort was established here in AD75 and today is one of Europe's most fascinating and well preserved Roman sites. You can see the excavated remains of the barrack block and the bath house, and close by a well preserved amphitheatre. The Roman Legionary Museum has an extensive range of exhibits and reconstructions of what life would have been like for a Roman Legionaire.

St Fagan's Museum of Welsh Life, Cardiff

One of Europe's biggest and most exciting open-air museums containing 500 years of Welsh history. Buildings have been transported here from all over Wales and rebuilt to illustrate Wales' rich heritage. Highlights include a row of iron workers' cottages furnished in different periods, and a 1930's farmstead. Traditional crafts are also demonstrated and a variety of events take place throughout the year. Admission is free.

Goytre Wharf, Llanover

This 8 acre site is situated at the lower end of the Monmouth and Brecon Canal. Here you can enjoy woodland and canal bank walks,childrens activities, or visit the Heritage Activity and Study Centre. Boats can also be hired on a daily basis.

Tredegar House, Newport

The 17th century Tredegar House is the finest historic house in South Wales, and the former home of the Morgan family. Guided tours are available around the house or there are beautiful parklands and gardens to explore.

Royal Forest of Dean

The Royal Forest of Dean lies on the English side of the River Wye and offers spectacular walks through the ancient forest, a sculpture trail at Beechenhurst, and the Speechhouse which used to be the Verderers Court but is now an hotel.

Clearwell Caves, Clearwell

Iron ore has been mined at Clearwell Caves for thousands of years. You can go down the mine to see the ancient workings and the iron oxide deposits, some of which are still mined today to be used as coloured pigments.

Kingfisher Cruises, Symonds Yat East

Enjoy the beauty of the River Wye on a Kingfisher Cruise boat, a 40 minute trip through the Wye Valley below the magnificent Yat Rock. When you have finished have some refreshment at one of the various cafes or pubs, and then walk or drive to Yat Rock to see the panoramic views and the nesting perigrine falcons.
